National conference of CAs begins

GUWAHATI, Nov 22 - A two-day national conference of chartered accountants got under way at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre here today. It was inaugurated by Jay Chhaira, chairman, PDC of ICAI, and Sunil Kumar Tandon, CGM, SBI, local head office, Guwahati.

Chhaira presented his thoughts on the profession and its opportunities in the ever-changing and dynamic business environment.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his speech appreciated the efforts of over three lakh chartered accountants towards the demonetisation, GST and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He spoke on the role of CAs towards making the country a superpower and a five-trillion dollar economy.

ICAI�s Guwahati branch chairman Dhiraj Kr Jain said the conference was themed on exploring the future of the profession, keeping in mind the young and vibrant professionals at the centre of it.

A technical session by Kapil Goel from New Delhi focusing on the assessment issues and issues on �operation clean money� marked the first technical session along with Sunil H Talati from Ahmedabad who presented a detailed account on e-assessment proceedings.
