National Children Science Congress held at Jonai

DHEMAJI, Sept 14 - The 27th National Children Science Congress (NCSC), Dhemaji district was conducted at Murkongselek College, Jonai on Saturday, wherein students of different secondary schools of the district presented 100 projects with exhibition of 40 science models.

The day-long programme began with the hoisting of 26 flags by the invited heads of educational institutions and was followed by felicitation of child scientists, opening of science exhibition and model presentation besides discussion of scientific issues.

Welcoming the participants, Jonai Science College principal Dr Rajeswar Pegu said the NCSC is a programme run under National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) to develop scientific attitude among the young students.

He informed that NCSC, Dhemaji district has been working for growing scientific awareness among school children since its formation in 1994. Accordingly, it has created 25 children scientists so far, who have been selected to state and national level science events.

Speaking on the occasion, many resource persons including NCSC state coordinator Romen Gogoi, retired Dhemaji College principal Dr Budhin Baruah, Silapathar Scince College principal Dr Ranjeet Saikia, Dr Banjeet Bhatta (Zoology) and others suggested the students to adopt scientific ideas like systematic analysis, innovative thinking and work for development of the nation.

On the occasion, a souvenir of the NCSC event titled Sandhaan was also released by retired principal Dr Hara Kt Pegu and other dignitaries.

The day-long event concluded with prize distribution and vote of thanks given by reception committee secretary Royal Pegu.
