Nation pays tribute to 26/11 martyrs

MUMBAI/NEW DELHI, Nov 26 � As the nation paid tributes to martyrs of the 26/11 attacks two years ago, India today vowed to redouble efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, reports PTI.

It also lamented that Pakistan had not punished the masterminds of the terror strike as it had promised.

To commemorate the memory of 166 people, including 18 security personnel, who were killed in the terror attacks, Maharashtra Police took out a parade in South Mumbai beginning from Oberoi Trident Hotel, one of the sites of the deadly strikes.

Home Minister P Chidambaram, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and a host of others laid wreaths at a function at the Police Gymkhana.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in a statement in New Delhi, said, �We pledge to redouble our efforts to bring the perpetrators of this crime against humanity to justice.�

Asserting that India �will never succumb to the designs of our enemies,� he said, �It is this spirit and strength of character of the Indian people that will defeat such forces that seek to threaten our social fabric and way of life�.
