TEZPUR, July 31 - The Baan Theatre Family today paid rich tributes to Natasurya Phani Sharma on his 49th death anniversary at his Kolibari crematorium.
It needs mention here that for commemorating the cultural icon, the Baan Theatre family with the support of different civil organisations is celebrating the golden jubilee year of the Natasurya Phani Sharma Drama Festival with a weeklong programme from today.
Attending the august event besides a handful of dignitaries including the media fraternity here DC, Sonitpur Narsing Pawar paid rich tribute to the �Natasurya�. After paying tributes to the cultural legend, Pawar met his family members at their residence and announced that an allocation of Rs 1 crore has been allocated under the city infrastructure development fund (CIDF) for the development of the crematorium at Kolibari.
It was followed by other scheduled events including banti prajalan and shradhanjali, commemoration and award giving programme etc., which were subsequently graced by son of Natasurya Phani Sharma, Sujit Sharma, retired principal, noted playwright, Bhaben Bora, Tezpur MP, Pallab Lochan Das, MLA, Brindaban Goswami, Vice Chairman of AMTRON, Ritubaran Sharma, Chairman, Assam Text Book and Publication, Rajen Barthakur and DC Sonitpur, Narsing Pawar.
