Narcotics worth of Rs 5 cr seized

DIPHU, Sept 26 - In the stepped up operation against drug transportation through Karbi Anglong meant for Guwahati, Karbi Anglong police recovered a huge quantity of heroin from a vehicle yesterday.

According to police sources, based on secret inputa singular checkpoint was set up by Manja police to seize a particular vehicle involved in smuggling of heroin. Consequently, a white TATA 1109 vehicle with registration no. AS-01-KC-1384 was stopped by the police. After thorough search, assorted kinds of narcotic drugs along with large quantities of heroin was discovered.

The recovered drugs include 75 small plastic packets containing 200 YABA tablets, 68 packets of brown sugar or heroin, each weighing approximately 13-15 grams. According to police, the price of the seized substance in the national market would be 158 lakh whereas in the international market it would be around 5 crore.

Three person with the 22-year-old driver Sagir Khan, a resident of Chingkhan Kabui of Lilong Thaubal district and the two passengers recognized as Syed Azad of Neae Tera Mokhang village, Thoubal district and Sanif Khan of Lilong Suptu Karong of Lilong subdivision, Thoubal district, Manipur, were arrested.
