Narcotics seized, 4 held

IMPHAL, Dec 8 - Troops of the Assam Rifles, along with personnel of the Manipur Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau, seized narcotics worth Rs 165 crore during raids at two locations in the border town of Moreh on Monday, stated a press release.

Two Myanmar and four Indian traffickers were apprehended by the security team during the operation, the release added.

�The raid unearthed a large haul of narcotics and contraband estimated to be worth over Rs 165 crore,� the PRO of Assam Rifles (South) stated in the release today. �One foreign-made pistol and a gun along with ammunition were also seized,� the release added.

Meanwhile, in another development, troops of Assam Rifles seized a narcotics consignment worth Rs 2.92 crore which was being smuggled from Myanmar, along the Larong-Khongjol route in Chandel, on Tuesday. The seized narcotics were later handed over to the Chandel Police.
