AGARTALA, May 12 Aiming to change the partys electoral fortune, AICC general secretary, in-charge Tripura, V Narayanswami is arriving here on May 14.
He would hold a meeting with party MLAs and leaders at Congress Bhavan to know their views on how to strengthen the organisation in the Marxist-ruled State.
Since the 1988 Assembly elections, the main opposition party has not tasted any electoral victory in the State frustrating the partys rank and file.
Later, he is scheduled to visit Surma in Dhalai district where a workers convention is planned by the TPCC. Besides Narayanswami, PCC president Birajit Sinha would also address the convention aimed at rejuvenating partys grassroot workers and supporters.
The convention is planned keeping in mind the ensuing by-election to Surma Assembly constituency which fell vacant after the death of CPM MLA Sudhir Das early this year.
On May 15, the AICC general secretary would address another workers convention at Bankumari which falls under Pratapgarh Assembly constituency.
The Assembly segment will also go to by-election as it fell vacant due to death of veteran Communist leader Anil Sarkar.
Before leaving the State, Narayanswami will also have a face-to-face meeting with the partys defeated ADC candidates and observers at Congress Bhavan. Sources said, he is concerned why the party could not make any impact in the recently concluded elections to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
In the tribal council elections, the party finished fourth in the multi-cornered electoral battle triggering widespread resentment among the party workers.
TPCC president Birajit Sinha has confessed that poor organisation had led to yet another election debacle.
However, Sinha made it clear that a massive change in the PCC, DCC and BCC will be effected very shortly to revamp the organisation.
