Narangi-Thakurkuchi double line inspected

GUWAHATI, May 23 � Balbir Singh, Commissioner of Railway Safety, NF Circle, Kolkata, has inspected the newly constructed Narangi-Thakurkuchi (9.76 km) BG double line of Guwahati-Digaru Path Doubling Project under Lumding division on May 19. At first he conducted motor trolley inspection from Thakurkuchi to Narangi and speed train trial run from Narangi to Thakurkuchi for opening the section for passenger traffic.

Earlier, the doubling work of Thakurkuchi to Digaru (15.30 km) and New Guwahati-Narangi (5 km) section was completed and commissioned for passenger traffic.

New Guwahati-Digaru patch doubling project (29.81 km) was sanctioned in 2007-08 and is estimated to cost Rs 150 crore 9.39 lakh. There was extension of 29 minor bridges, 2 new station buildings and yard remodelling of 6 yards involved in the section. For construction, rock blasting was carried out in the close vicinity of existing railway track in a controlled manner without any untoward incident.

The CRS, NF circle was accompanied by Radhey Shyam, cheif administrative officer, Con-1, NF Railway, Ajit Pandit, DRM, NF Railway, Lumding SS Kalra, chief engineer, Con-2, Rajneesh Mathur, CGE, NF Railway, and other senior railway officials from the headquarter and Lumding division, a press release issued by NF Railway said.
