Nandy sisters enthrall netizens with evergreen songs

GUWAHATI, July 12 - Sisters Ankita and Antara Nandy enthralled netizens with evergreen Assamese songs in a live concert on Facebook organised by The Assam Tribune on Sunday evening.

Dressed in similar outfits, the duo started with a Borgeet strumming the ukulele as they rendered some hit songs like Nahor Phula Botorotey, Kune Aji Abeli Morom Dilehi Tuli, a Rabha Sangeet Biswar Sande Sande, and many more. The music concert crossed 2,500 views within 15 minutes.

The sisters also sang Kavita Krishnamurthy�s Dosokute Sopun Tumi Kio Aakila from the album Niribili Godhuli, a Bihu song Beka Beki Koi Sai Muloi Kolija Nakhaba, Shreya Ghosal�s Rang Dia Morom from the movie Ramdhenu and a song by Dikshu Aah Oi Aah.

The sisters also sang one of Antara�s original songs Dheere Dheere.

When the audience requested for some Hindi songs, Antara said the concert was exclusively meant for Assamese songs. She said music has no language and can be enjoyed in any form. They also thanked non-Assamese viewers from across the country for joining the concert.

One from the audience commented: �Beautiful singing dear girls, glad you are making Assam proud with your talent.� Another viewer said, �I am from Odisha, cannot understand the lyrics but still enjoying your song� superb girls� love you.�

A Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li�l Champs 2009 finalist, Antara has rendered AR Rahman�s single Nis Din with Jonita Gandhi. The duo went viral on social media after they sang Phul Phulise, a Bihu song wearing blue and black traditional mekhala chadors. The song crossed 3.4 million views on the very first day of its release on April 14.
