Namsai gets first rank in education among �aspirational dists� of country

ITANAGAR, June 22 - The Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh has secured the first rank in education among the 117 �aspirational districts� in the country on the basis of incremental progress made in February-March, 2019.

The Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, has conveyed this information to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh through an official letter to Chief Secretary Satya Gopal.

�NITI Aayog compliments the officers whose tireless effort has earned them the position mentioned above,� Kant wrote.

As per the guidelines of this special initiative, Namsai district has become eligible for a one-time additional allocation of Rs 3 crore, in the nature of untied allocation.

The district has been asked by the NITI Aayog to prepare a plan of action in consultation with the State and Central Prabhari officers (Namsai) and to send the same to the NITI Aayog in a prescribed format with their recommendations within a fortnight. This will be considered by the Empowered Committee of Secretaries, constituted for the Aspirational District Programme, for approval.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who is also a lawmaker from Namsai district, in a statement, complimented the Namsai district administration headed by DC Tapasya Raghav and officers of the Education Department for the achievement, stating that it is due to their tireless efforts that the district has earned this position.
