GUWAHATI, May 26 - Hailing naming of the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge � the longest bridge in the country � after cultural icon of the State Dr Bhupen Hazarika, the Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) today said that it is the most befitting tribute to Bhupenda.
�The people of Assam are greatly pleased with this step and, apart from reducing the travel time and facilitating easier transportation, the Bhupen Hazarika Setu with its magnificent structure, will attract people from across the country and globe,� the SGBG said in a statement.
APCC hails naming: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) too has hailed naming of the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge over the Lohit after Dr Hazarika, calling it a laudable step. The Congress has been demanding since long that the bridge should be named after the legendary musician, who was born in Sadiya and who portrayed the Luit River through his creations in the world assembly of humanity in a splendid manner, said APCC president Ripun Bora here today.
