Nalbari Zila Moina Parijat celebrates Children�s Day

NALBARI, Nov 17 - Nalbari Zila Moina Parijat celebrated Children�s Day at its Japarkuchi office near Chowkbazar on November 14.

The programme started with hoisting of the flag by GS Ramani Barman of the Moina Parijat. Former president Girin Talukdar and educationist Keshab Barman paid tributes before the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Thereafter, Kiran Barman offered garlands on the portrait of Hari Barman, founder general secretary of Nalbari Zila Moina Parijat. On the occasion, a drawing competition was held in two groups, which was inaugurated by artist Khasnur Ahmed. A recitation and dance contests were also organised. An open meeting on the occasion was presided over by Jayanta Malla Baruah, president of Nalbari Zilla Moina Parijat.

Addressing the meeting, the MLA of Nalbari LAC Ashok Sarma said that the BJP Government has taken up various schemes for the mental and physical uplift of children.

Attending as the appointed speaker, Sahityacharyya Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya lamented that all-round development of children has not been ensured at present. Children are even harassed by their parents and family members.

Dr Bhattacharya called upon the teachers, guardians and parents to be dedicated towards development of the upcoming generation.

Speaking at the meeting, noted businessman and social worker Ganesh Tamuli decided to instal a statue of Late Hari Barman at the premises of the Moina Parijat office complex. The statue is likely to be unveiled on Children�s Day next year.

It may be mentioned here that Nalbari Zilla Moina Parijat was formed in 1968 with Dr Bhumidhar Barman as president and Late Hari Barman as general secretary respectively.
