Nalbari undertakes cleanliness drive

NALBAR1, Oct 14 � The Nalbari district administration has taken some special measures to clean up Nalbari town since the last few days.

The Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, Dr Om Prakash himself has taken interest to make the town clean and intensified the monitoring system in the municipal areas.

Talking to this correspondent, the extra additional commissioner of Nalbari, Naren Das who is entrusted with the responsibility of executive officer of Nalbari Municipal Board, said that as per the directive of the Deputy Commissioner, he has already taken steps to clear the footpaths from the illegal encroachment by the unscrupulous businessmen.

He also said that the businessmen of the town have been directed to facilitate a dustbin in front of their shops where waste could be accumulated. Das further added that he has decided to instal some more dustbins in public places.

The Nalbari Deputy Commissioner also conducted monitoring operation in the hotels of the town and directed the owners to give maximum emphasis on cleanliness of food served to the customers. The DC also ordered some sweets kept in a local hotel openly to be destroyed. Further, he sealed a pharmacy in the town which did not renew its licence.

Most of the pharmacies of the town were running without renewing their licences. On the other hand, the district administration also took steps on maintaining cleanliness in the fish market of the town.The district administration convened a meeting with the fish and meat sellers and requested them to ensure scientific disposal of the waste generated every day.

On the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner directed the inspector of schools, district elementary education officer and deputy inspector of schools to instruct the headmasters to facilitate a dustbin in every school campus in order to inculcate the habit of cleanliness among the students. Meanwhile, the school heads have already started installing dustbins in their respective educational institutions.
