Nalbari town to be beautified: DC

NALBARI, Jan 3 - The Nalbari district administration has decided to carry out some special measures to make Nalbari a clean and beautiful town of the State this year.

While talking to this correspondent, the Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, Anant Lal Gyani said that as the Nalbari town is identified as a town of ivory colour, the district administration has already directed the community and business establishments to continue the coating of ivory colour in the front view of their houses, walls and the entrances. The business establishments and the households of Nalbari town who have changed the colour have been requested to coat the buildings with ivory colour within the month of January.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the installation of dustbins before shops, office and schools must be ensured and all norms of the Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan would be followed. Besides, trade licenses for business establishments have been made compulsory and the administration is carrying out a drive against those found defaulting on this count. Two assistant commissioners Darshana Bora and Shilpika Kalita have been entrusted to carry out this drive. In the last four days, fines of more than Rs 1.60 lakh from business establishments of PNC Road and Swahid Market have been realised.

Gyani said that the district administration has decided to clear the encroachment of footpaths and other Government lands of the town. On the other hand, to avert traffic jams, the registration of e-rickshaws plying in the town make compulsory and the routes for their plying would be fixed soon. On the other hand, cleaning and reconstruction of the drainage system of the town is also under construction in various parts, he added.
