Nalbari teachers in dilemma over Covid test

By Correspondent

NALBARI, Aug 31 - The teachers are still in a dilemma in Nalbari district as the Health department has temporarily suspended the RTPCR test for COVID-19 for teachers due to shortage of VTM (Viral Transport Medium) for swab collection.

The Health department had organised Covid test camps for the teachers at various places from August 24 and 25 where a section of teachers attended.

Unfortunately, it was cancelled on August 26. As a result, a large number of teachers in the district have been facing uncertainty over the Covid test as the Education department has ordered them to join their respective schools on September 1 with negative test reports. While talking to this Correspondent, the Joint Director of Health Services Dr Umesh Phangshu said that due to non-availability of VTM (Viral Transport Medium), the swab collection for Covid test has been stopped.

According to him, the district has about 5,000 teachers from primary to college level and 2,100 of them completed their test so far and those teachers can attend their duty from tomorrow.
