NALBARI, June 14 - A statistical officer of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department named Tupul Sarma has been placed under suspension due to negligence in regard to COVID-19 duty.
Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury under COVID-19 sub clause of the Disaster Management Act found the official guilty and took immediate action against him.
It may be mentioned here that Sarma was entrusted duty at the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University quarantine centre, but was found absent without prior information.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner cancelled all leave petitions of the Government employees due to the emergency-like situation in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, an official press release stated.
It may be pertinent to mention here that the district presently has three COVID-19 positive cases who are under medical surveillance at the Nalbari Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital.
One of them was discharged from the hospital a few days ago but again readmitted as he was found positive after the second test.
