Nalbari KVK bags national award

NALBARI, July 15 - The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nalbari under Assam Agricultural University (AAU) has bagged the national award of best KVK for the year 2014 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The ICAR, New Delhi declared the award to KVK, Nalbari in the North East Zone.

The award will be conferred formally to the Programme Coordinator, KVK, Nalbari during the national conference of KVKs to be held at Patna, Bihar on July 25 next. The award comprises a certificate and a cash of Rs 4 lakh only.

The KVK, Nalbari established in 2004 started functioning at its present location at Sariahtoli under the leadership of Dr HC Bhattacharyya. Since its inception the KVK, Nalbari has been playing vital role in the socio-economic development and capacity building of the farmers of the district. The present programme coordinator Dr Mridul Deka has expressed his gratitude to the farming community, all allied departments and district administration of Nalbari for their active cooperation which helped greatly in achieving the award. He also offered his thankfulness to Dr Kamal Malla Buzarbaruah, VC, AAU, Jorhat.
