NALBARI, Nov 13 - The Nalbari district committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday formally welcomed the MLA of Nalbari Assembly constituency, Jayanta Malla Baruah, who had joined the BJP on November 6.
A welcome rally for the former Congress MLA was taken out from the Chakbazar area to the district BJP office here. The welcome meeting held at Nalbari Dharamshala was presided over by Ashok Sarma, president of the Nalbari district BJP.
Addressing the meeting, Jayanta Malla Baruah said the decision of Himanta Biswa Sarma to join the BJP was a right step as the party has democracy for every cadre.
�As I have now joined the BJP, I shall try to strengthen the party base in all the three constituencies in Nalbari district so that the party candidates can win the next elections,� he said.
