Nalbari admin holds peace meet

NALBARI, Aug 24 � The Nalbari district administration on Wednesday organised a peace meet with representatives of different organisations and political parties at the Deputy Commissioner�s conference hall. The peace meeting, presided over by Lalit Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner, Nalbari, was attended by Sarat Saikia, Parliamentary Secretary of Home department, Abu Sufian, SP of Nalbari and Binoy Kumar, Officiating Commandant of CRPF�s 136 Battalion among others.

Addressing the meeting, representatives of different organisations including Maffijuddin Ahmed, Bijoy Kumar Jain, Gias Ali, Himan Barman , Sunil Sarma, Abdul Gafar Uz Jaman, Nagen Deka, Mujib Ali, Makibar Hussain, Ratnakar Baruah, Ananda Rajbangshi, and Pankaj Barman called upon the people of the district to maintain peace. They also opposed the bandh culture which affects normal life adversely. A peace committee was also formed in the meeting.

A silent peace march was also taken out by the citizens of Nalbari town on Wednesday. The peace march was taken out from Nalbari Natya Mandir and it paraded throuh the main thoroughfares of the town. They also held a meeting on the Natya Mandir premises and raised slogans against communal violence.
