Nagaon residents to get vegetables at their doorsteps

NAGAON, March 28 - During the lockdown period the local MLA, Rupak Sarma has initiated steps to provide vegetables and other essential goods to the people at their doorsteps from today itself after some vendors of vegetables, fish and meat on Friday created panic by opening their outlets during the nationwide lockdown.

Following the panic, under the pursuance of the local MLA Rupak Sarma, the district administration has taken the decision to distribute packets of vegetables to all at Rs 70 at their doorsteps in all the wards of the municipality board area. A packet of vegetables will contain all total six kinds of vegetables like ridge guard, cucumber, brinjal, squash, tomatoes, green chilli and cabbage.

Notably, as part of this initiative, the district administration has supplied such packets of vegetables today at Milanpur and Choukitop under ward no. 26 and MLA Rupak Sarma himself supervised the distribution of vegetables packets. Sarma assured that the administration would deliver the vegetables packets at a fair price everyday in almost all wards of the town and urged all to maintain the guidelines as well as instructions of the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the district Health department has put a total of 3899 people under home isolation till date in the district and other seven persons were admitted in the isolation ward of Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phukonani Civil Hospital for further observation on Friday last.

The expert surveillance team has screened the health status of 497 persons who have arrived from outside the State, out of which seven persons were immediately confined to the isolation ward in Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phukonani Civil Hospital and the rest were advised to stay in home isolation so far, the sources in the district Health department added.
