Nagaon reels under floodwater

NAGAON, July 28 - The flood situation in Nagaon district has turned grim. According to official reports, as many as 34 villages under Samaguri and Koliabor Revenue Circles (13 in Samguri, 21 in Koliabor) have been affected by the current flood. Nearly 30,000 people of both the revenue circles have been affected by flood.

Due to rising water level in the river Brahmaputra, eight villages under Dhing Revenue Circle and five villages under Rupohi Revenue Circle have been affected. Nearly 10,000 people in the two circles have been affected by flood.

According to an official release, as many as 15 relief camps were set up in Samguri and Koliabor Revenue Circles and relief materials have been distributed among the camp inmates. Moreover, doctors, nurses and veterinary doctors also attended the camps with required medicines. Baby foods are also being provided to the people taking shelter in the relief camps by the departments concerned and special care is being taken for babies and pregnant women.
