GUWAHATI, May 11 - Nagaon is trailing by 201 runs with five wickets in hand in the first innings of the Nuruddin Trophy Elite Group Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament.
On the opening day of the two-day first semifinal at the Barsapara cricket stadium here today, put into bat Guwahati piled up 250 in the first innings losing all the wickets in 69.1 overs.
Nagaon were tottering at 49 for five at the end of the day�s play. Rahul Hazarika top scored for Guwahati with 97 off 128 balls. His knock was studded with 12 boundaries and two sixes. Apart from Rahul, Erik Roy (34), Gokul Sharma (30) and Avijit Singha Roy (24) were among runs while other batsmen could not offer substantial contribution. Ashok Kumarr Saini and Bitop Mahanta took four wickets each for Nagaon. Nagaon were in deep trouble while chasing the target losing wickets in regular intervals from the initial stage.
Mantu Das ripped through the Nagaon batting line up taking four wickets for 27.
