NAGAON, April 23 - Nagaon is among the top districts in the country to receive the award for successful implementation of Government schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Health Card etc.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday formally handed over the prize to Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Nagaon district was selected for 100 per cent implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. The prize includes a memento and a cheque of Rs 10 lakh.
Under this schemes, 7,06,785 accounts were opened in different nationalised banks of the district till now. Altogether, 360 �Bank Mitra� extended their help to open the accounts.
The prize distribution function was enjoyed by district officers, bank officials and Bank Mitras in a function held at the auditorium of Nagaon DC�s office through a live telecast.
