NAGAON, April 10 - Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Jadav Saikia and ADC Jayanta Bora took to the roads on Friday morning and took stern action against people who came out to the markets violating the restrictions as well as guidelines of the lockdown called in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

As per information, Saikia took up this stern initiative following alleged negligence by Nagaon police, and stood on the road along with his security staff and checked many vehicles.

During the first spell, Saikia intercepted many two-wheelers and four-wheelers on the old NH-37 near Maruwaripatty and seized many vehicles. Later, he and his staff rushed to the Natun Bazaar Chariali where he sent back many people for not maintaining social distancing.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the people to avoid roaming around unnecessarily, as it was against the guidelines and restrictions of the ongoing lockdown.

Meanwhile, the staff of Nagaon Forest Division led by DFO Rajen Chaudhary, ACF Deben Kalita and ranger of Nagaon Sadar Range Jayanta Kumar Goswami extended support to several families who became victims of attacks by wild elephants in greater Barhampur and Chutiagaon areas.
