Nagaon, Darrang in GU cricket final

GUWAHATI, May 9 � Darrang College will play against Nagaon College in the final of the Gauhati University Inter College Cricket Championship. In two one-sided semifinals of 25 overs a side, played at the GU campus today, Darrang College trounced Bajali College by 78 runs while Nagaon College posted a six-wicket victory against Post Graduate Classes.

In the first match, electing to bat first, Darrang College piled up 154 losing all the wickets in 19.2 overs. Amit Kant was their top scorer with 34 while Juneid Akhter added 26.

The Bajali boys failed to chase and were all out for 76 runs.

The second encounter was a low scoring one as put into bat, PG Classes were all out for a paltry 76. Nagaon College took just 12.1 overs to cross the opponent�s total losing four wickets.

The final is slated for tomorrow.

Brief scores: Darrang 154 (Amit Kant 34, Juneid Akhter 26, Chiranjit Choudhury 2/16, Biswajit Sarma 2/22). Bajali 76 (Nabajyoti 15, Juneid Akhter 2/18, Sidhartha Sarma 2/20).

PG Classes 76 (Ikramul Ali 18, Dipjyoti Kalita 3/16, Trailukya Bordoloi 3/18). Nagaon 77/4 (Dipjyoti Bora 18, Rajkumar Bora 18, Imran ali 2/18).
