Nagaon awarded Best DLSA in NE Zone

RAHA, Nov 18 - The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Nagaon has been sincerely extending its able services to the poor and deprived section of the society by ensuring access to justice for all, under the able guidance of its secretary, Pronita Morang. Considering the spirit of extending intensive help to the most vulnerable section of the society, DLSA, Nagaon has been awarded the Best District Legal Service Authority in the entire North East zone recently on the day of celebration of �Legal service day�, organised by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) at the auditorium hall of Additional Building complex, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi.

The occasion was graced by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister of Law and Justice and Electronics & information Technology, Justice SA Bobde, Chief Justice of India designate and Executive Chairman of NALSA, Justice NV Ramana, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Justice DN Patel, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice DN Patel, Judge, High Court of Delhi.

The prestigious award of Best DLSA of the North East zone was received by Pronita Morang, secretary of DLSA in presence of Satya Nath Sharma, the member secretary of Assam State Legal Services Authority, Rita Kar, Chairman, DLSA, Nagaon and Apurba Sharma, Chairman, Bar Council of Gauhati High Court.

Sources revealed that Pronita Morang, Secretary DLSA, Nagaon, who is the prime architect of this award had worked sincerely and extended free and competent legal services to poor people residing in the remotest areas of Nagaon district and created mass awareness about the fundamental rights of the people and also about the ways and means to protect those rights from the evil doers. In addition, Nagaon DLSA had launched four projects, in order to extend legal assistance to the most vulnerable section of the society, namely, ANUBHUTI (a project to feel and heal the pain in the silent hearts of the mentally ill persons), SNEHBANDHAN (a project to secure the phase of old age with love, care and protection), RONGIN XAPUN ( a project to provide assistance to every child in making their colourful dreams a reality), PUHAR (a project to remove darkness from the lives of the acid attack victims).

In a phone interaction with ANN Service, Pronita Morang appreciated the contribution of Satya Nath Sharma, the member secretary of Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA), Rita Kar, Chairman DLSA, Nagaon, Gitali Rabha, deputy secretary, ASLSA, Minakshi Sharma, under secretary, ASLSA and para legal volunteers and the penal lawyers, namely, Rupali Goswami, Shahnaz Sultana, Mallika Sharma, Jasmine Begum, Mukul Prasad Borthakur, Dibya Prasad Bora, Pinku Goswami, Dandadhar Hazarika and many more in this journey of success. She also assured that the rights of the deprived people will be protected by the Legal Services Authority.
