Nagaland virus tally reaches 8,945

DIMAPUR, Oct 30 - The COVID-19 positive cases in Nagaland have reached 8,945 with the detection of 51 new cases on Friday. There have been 33 deaths due to the virus in the State so far.

�A total of 51 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected today � 32 in Dimapur, 16 in Kohima, two in Mokokchung and one in Tuensang,� Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha said.

He added that out of the 8,945 positive cases, 7,229 people have already recovered and 1,596 cases are still active. As per severity of symptoms 1,518 active cases are asymptomatic, 57 are mild, 16 are moderate, three severe and two are on ventilator support.

Of the total positive cases, 3,878 cases are from the armed forces/police, 1,653 are returnees, 2,978 are traced contacts and 436 are frontline workers.

Sinha said that a total of 61,607 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 60,439 samples have already been received. Besides, 33,448 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat and the results of 33,404 samples have been received, he added. As many as 3,876 samples have been put to rapid antigen tests.
