Nagaland virus tally reaches 8,296

DIMAPUR, Oct 22 - The Nagaland COVID-19 tally rose to 8,296 with the detection of 157 positive cases today.

As many as 119 of the new cases are from Dimapur, 30 from Kohima, three from Peren, two each from Mokokchung and Kiphire and one from Mon, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha said.

He added that out of the 8,296 positive cases, 6,399 have recovered so far and 1,798 are still active. There have been 22 deaths due to the virus.

As per the severity of symptoms, 1,716 active cases are asymptomatic, 60 mild, 15 moderate, four severe cases are on oxygen and three are on ventilator support, Sinha elaborated.

He stated that 3,699 cases are from the armed forces/police, 1,625 are returnees, 2,575 are traced contacts and 397 are frontline workers.

Sinha said a total of 58,866 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 57,747 samples have been received. In addition, a total of 32,289 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat and the results of 32,228 samples have been received.

As many 3,406 samples have been put to rapid antigen tests, the Principal Secretary said.
