Nagaland to weed out bogus employees

DIMAPUR, Oct 5 � The Nagaland Government will carry out an exercise to identify exact number of genuine work-charged and casual employees in each department and weed out bogus/host or unauthorised employees.

As per the decision of the State Cabinet meeting held on August 8 last, a systematic process of identification and verification of the employees of these two categories will be carried out within six months. In this connection, a meeting was held at the Secretariat Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner Toshi Aier.

Expressing serious concern over the matter, Aier has called for contempt proceedings to weed out all such employees. He called upon all the heads of departments and the deputy commissioners in the districts to take serious note and to cooperate in carrying out the exercise.

Commissioner and Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, and chairman, Work-Charged & Casual Employees Commission, Sentiyanger Imchen who co-chaired the meeting commented that the State might have unauthorised and doubtful work-charged and casual employees who might be overboard. Therefore, he said, the exercise of physical verification of employees should be done and stressed that at any level it should be taken seriously. He also informed that District Level Work-Charged Committee is to be headed by a Commissioner and Secretary for administrative support and one member should be a representative of the work-charged employees.

All deputy commissioners and heads of departments concerned, DDOs and divisions at district level have been asked to follow the laid down Office Memorandum dated August 22 last to start the process immediately and complete the entire exercise within the stipulated time frame.

Former financial advisor Lee gave a power point presentation underlining the importance of the exercise of identification and verification and the secretary, Finance Y Kikheto Sema gave a presentation of the State�s finances.

The meeting was attended by all heads of departments having work-charge and casual employees and all the deputy commissioners of the districts.
