By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, April 5 - The Nagaland Government has sealed the States border with Assam under Bhandari sub-division of Wokha district with immediate effect after five persons were tested positive for COVID-19 at Merapani in Assams Golaghat district.

An official release on Sunday said the Bhandari Additional Deputy Commissioner Tiameren Chang has issued a directive to seal the stretch of Assam-Nagaland border in Bhandari sub-division until further order.

Chang said that punitive action would be taken against any person violating the order.

A directive was also issued to the village councils in the areas along inter-State border to strictly monitor movement of people and extend full cooperation to the district administration and the police for effective implementation of the order.

Testing lab: Nagaland Governor RN Ravi said the government is in the process of setting up a COVID-19 testing laboratory in the State.

I am hopeful that it would be ready and functional soon, Ravi said.

He said Nagaland has not been able to do required number of tests to have an objective assessment of the COVID-19 situation owing to lack of any testing facility in the State.

He said that he was in touch with the Union Health Ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research for getting the required assistance to set up the lab.

Ravi said that all possible measures have been taken to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 in the State.
