Nagaland repoll in two polling stations today

DIMAPUR, Nov 6 - Repoll in two polling stations under the No. 60 Pungro-Kiphire (ST) Assembly Constituency in Kiphire district will be conducted on Saturday, Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha said.

Polling in the two stations � 11 Kipongya Ward �A� Kiphire Town and 11 Singrep � will be held from 6 am to 4 pm, he added.

Sinha said that the Election Commission of India, on the basis of reports submitted and after taking all material circumstances into account, ordered repoll in the two polling stations. The by-elections to the Pungro-Kiphire seat, along with the No. 14 Southern Angami -I constituency, were held on November 3.

The bypolls were necessitated after the deaths of Southern Angami-I legislator from the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and former Nagaland Assembly Speaker Vikho-o Yhoshu on December 30 and Pungro-Kiphire MLA from the Opposition Naga People�s Front T Torechu on December 16 last year.

The bypolls in both the constituencies recorded over 88 per cent polling on November 3. Counting of votes will take place on November 10.

Meanwhile, Kohima DC Mohammed Ali Shihab A today said the counting of votes for the Southern Angami- I seat would be taken up in his conference hall from 8 am.
