Nagaland recovery rate reaches 75.1 pc

KOHIMA, Sept 15 - Single-day recoveries outnumbered new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland on Tuesday as 30 people were cured of the infection and 15 tested positive for the disease, Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said.

The COVID-19 recovery rate in the State is 75.1 per cent. It had gone up to 87.82 per cent on August 8. The fresh cases have raised the State�s caseload to 5,229.

The daily COVID-19 bulletin said 27 patients from Kohima and three from Mokokchung district recovered from the disease on Tuesday. State Nodal Officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme Dr Nyanthung Kikon said that the death toll went up to 15 from 10 on Monday.

While two deaths are COVID-19 related, three others succumbed to ailments and the novel coronavirus infection in them was incidental, he said.

At present, there are 1,269 active cases in the State, 3,927 patients have recovered and 18 have migrated to other States, Kikon said.

Dimapur has the highest number of active cases at 782 patients, followed by 433 in Kohima, 24 in Mon, 15 in Mokokchung, four each in Zunheboto and Tuensang, three in Peren, two in Kiphire, and one each in Phek and Wokha districts.

The State has so far tested 70,994 samples for COVID-19, the Health official said. � PTI
