DIMAPUR, Nov 23 � Hectic preparations are on to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will make a two-day visit to Nagaland from November 30. Modi will also grace the inaugural function of the 10-day Hornbill Festival, an annual tourism promotional event showcasing the rich cultural traditions of the State on December 1 as the chief guest.
In connection with the Prime Minister�s visit, a coordination meeting of the top State Government officials and the Central Government departments in the State was convened by the State Principal Secretary & Home Commissioner in Kohima on November 21.
Chairing the meeting, Home Commissioner Pankaj Kumar has sought cooperation of all departments and organisations for the success of the Prime Minister�s visit.
Assam Rifles representatives informed that the Kohima helipad would be made ready with tight security. They also said security will be tightened in and around Kohima.
The Border Roads Organisation informed the meeting that the ongoing repair and construction of roads will be completed by November 29.
Meanwhile, Chief Ministers of some States in Myanmmar will arrive on December 3 to take part in the Hornbill Festival.
PTI adds: Nagaland is gearing up to host the much hyped Hornbill Festival, also known as the �Festival of Festivals� coinciding with the 51st Statehood Day celebration.
The ten-day festivities would not only showcase the rich tradition and culture of the Naga tribes, but also various other events for the young and old alike, said Commissioner and Secretary for Tourism, Himato Zhimomi.
The State is expecting about 30,000 domestic tourists from other parts of the country and about five thousand foreign tourists apart from over two lakh local tourists.
The festival will have a special addition termed the Great Hornbill Adventure Trip (GHAT) which is aimed at showing the tourists interiors of Nagaland, beyond Kisama and Kohima, and also to make the festival more inclusive. � PTI
