Nagaland PCC alleges EVM manipulation in LS polls

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, June 9 - The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has resolved to move the AICC to take cognisance of the alleged EVM manipulation in the recent Lok Sabha elections and move the court to declare the poll null and void, saying it has lost faith in the election process of Indian democracy.

The Pradesh Congress in its general session held in Kohima on June 7 also resolved to move the AICC to demand re-election with paper ballot, PCC president K Therie and general secretary GK Zhimomi said in a release on Sunday.

The PCC said the verdict of the 2019 general election to the 17th Lok Sabha is beyond its assessment and perception and therefore unacceptable.

If not for EVM manipulation and religious polarisation, there is no reason why the assessments of various international and national political analysts should go wrong, it said.

The PCC sought to point out that 21 political parties had demanded paper ballot for fear of EVM manipulations but the Election Commission of India rejected the demand without any acceptable reason.

It added that when the 21 political parties demanded 50 per cent verification of VVPAT slips during counting process, the Election Commission flatly rejected the demand, rendering use of VVPAT meaningless.

The huge victory margin of someone like BJPs Pragya Singh Thakur who is under trial as terror accused and Godse patroniser goes to prove that it is hatred against secularism, religious polarisation and EVM manipulation, the PCC said. It is also unbelievable that Congress-ruled States in Hindi-speaking belt would be wiped out without the above stated reasons.

Appreciating the decision of Congress president Rahul Gandhi for owning moral responsibility for defeat of the party, the PCC, however, said in its consideration, it is difficult to believe the verdict as peoples mandate.

According to the PCC, the poll verdict is fraudulent as it was based on EVM manipulation and religious polarisation regulated by a biased ECI in total violation of the election model code of conduct.

The PCC said it, therefore, resolved to support the resolution of the Congress Central Working Committee in rejecting Rahul Gandhis resignation.

The PCC session viewed that the BJP-led NDA Government has moved the nation to a dangerous position especially for religious minorities and oppressed castes.

The feeling of divide is growing in the minds of the people for want of safety and security (Surrender and be protected or will lynch you, is the signal all over), it alleged.

The PCC made it clear that any attempt to infringe upon the secular and socialist structure of the Constitution will not be tolerated. It also vowed to always uphold the political rights, belief, social practices, language and rich culture of the Nagas as long as they remain a part of the Indian Union.
