By The Assam Tribune

KOHIMA, Sept 19 Taking serious note of the recent action by Nagaland police on agitating students in Golaghat district of Assam, Nagaland government today instituted an enquiry and appealed to the All Assam Students Union (AASU) to reconsider its proposed agitation over the issue, reports PTI.

The enquiry would be headed by principal secretary (home) C J Ponraj, Home Minister Imkong Imchen said.

The minister also urged the AASU to reconsider its proposed agitation against Nagaland on the incident.

As neighbours, sometimes irritants happen but things have to be addressed in the spirit of cooperation as well as forgive and forget, Imkong said.

Nearly 20 students were injured, some of them seriously, on NH 39 near Rangajan Tinali in Golaghat district when a group of Nagaland police caned them on September 15. The students were protesting against alleged criminal activities in the border area.
