Nagaland legislators plea for early solution of Naga issue

By CORRESPONDENT

DIMAPUR, June 19 - Reiterating its support to the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement between the Government of India and NSCN-IM, the Nagaland Legislators Forum on Naga Political Issue has resolved to urge the Union Government and the NSCN-IM to take the Agreement forward and arrive at an honourable settlement which is acceptable to the Nagas.

Adopting a three-point resolution at a meeting in the conference hall of Nagaland Assembly on Wednesday, the House entrusted the Parliamentary Working Committee along with all elected members of Assembly including two MPs of Nagaland, under the leadership of the Speaker and the Chief Minister, to go to Delhi and put pressure on the Central leadership for an early solution and also to find out the latest developments taking place in the negotiations between the Centre and NSCN-IM.

The legislators forum also appealed to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) to be more pro-active in bridging the gaps between the different political groups so that they can contribute towards solving the Naga political problem at this crucial juncture. This was stated in a press release issued by Commissioner and Secretary, Nagaland Assembly, N Benjamin Newmai.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has termed NLF resolutions on the Naga political issue as an insult to the intellectuals of Nagaland.

What Honourable Governor has recently said did not even strike their minds. He said Members of the Assembly are not elected just to make resolutions and not deliver, the NPCC added.
