Nagaland Guv orders probe into Education scams

DIMAPUR, March 28 - Taking serious note of reported failures and scams in Nagaland Education department, Governor PB Acharya has ordered a thorough inquiry into them. He said this government will not tolerate any scam and corruption and will take strict action against the culprits irrespective of their position and rank.

The Governor said the news item �Mid-Day Meal Scheme starved by pilferage� appearing in a local daily here has been shocking and alarming and it requires urgent and proper enquiry and action. He took note of various reported irregularities in the Education department such as Hindi teachers� salary, appointment of teachers in Peren district and their absence, contractors locking up school building due to non-payment of pending bills, proxy teachers in remote village schools and misuse of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) funds and schemes.

A release from Raj Bhavan today stated that the Governor has called for a proper enquiry and action while also expressing his shock and displeasure about the situation. He has written to Chief Minister and Education Minister to get the matters thoroughly investigated and take corrective steps immediately without any lapse of time.
