DIMAPUR, Dec 17 - Nagaland and Assam governor PB Acharya and Nagaland Home Minister have condemned the killing of businesswoman Ritika Mehta by miscreants in Dimapur on December 14.

The Governor has instructed the State Government to ensure safety and security of the citizens and said this is the responsibility of any elected government.

Stating that such type of violence and killing would harm the prosperity and development of the State, Acharya appealed to all business people to excercise restraint.

The Governor conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved family and urged the government to sanction necessary compensation to the victims family.

Nagaland Home Minister Y Patton has also strongly condemned the killing and said the State police has been directed to bring the perpetrators responsible for the crime to book.

Patton assured the State Government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that peace and tranquility is not disturbed in and around Dimapur in particular and the State in general.

He further termed as unfortunate the opposition Congress in Nagaland for trying to politicise the incident by even dragging him and holding him answerable for the crime committed by criminals. Patton said the Congress was not aware that Dimapur city police commissioner had provided security to the victim ever since the first attempt was made on her life.
