Addressing the inaugural function of the police post building at Dillai Gate bordering Assams Karbi Anglong district, Longkumer told the police personnel that the first impression of Nagaland police is created in the border areas.

He cited the example of the 9th IRB, saying that they were smart and disciplined, and earned good reputation for Nagaland while they were deployed in Chhattisgarh. You are here to give protection to the citizens and not to harass them, the State police chief said.

He warned of stern action if any instance of harassment of the public by police comes to light. Longkumer appealed to the policemen to make the new building a house of respect and advised them to maintain its sanctity.

Agriculture Production Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema, who is also the in-charge of Dimapur district for COVID-19 activities, said that with the inauguration of the new police post, the mindset, attitude and way of living of the people of the border areas ought to change.

Sema called upon the Nagas to maintain peaceful and cordial relations with their immediate neighbours.

Let this place be clean and be a place of prayer by desisting from drinking and smoking, he requested the police personnel who would be manning the post.

On behalf of his family, Sema donated a refrigerator to the new police post building for the convenience of the police personnel.
