Nagaland COVID-19 tally touches 6,715

DIMAPUR, Oct 7 - Altogether 53 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Nagaland today, of which 37 came from Dimapur, eight from Kohima, six from Peren and one each from Mokokchung and Phek. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 6,715.

Nagaland Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha said out of the 6,715 positive cases, 5,444 have already recovered. He said the total active cases in the State are 1,194, and that there have been 12 deaths due to the virus so far. As per severity of symptoms, 1,142 active cases are asymptomatic, 41 mild, six moderate, one severe, two with oxygen support and two are on ventilators.

Among the total caseload so far, 3,153 are armed forces or police personnel, 1,535 returnees, 1,666 traced contacts, and 361 are frontline workers.

Sinha said that a total of 53,421 samples have been sent for RT-PCR tests and the results of 52,262 samples have been received so far. Besides, 29,320 samples have been sent for TrueNat tests and the results of 29,230 samples have already been received. As many as 2,068 samples have been put to rapid antigen tests, the Principal Secretary (Home) added.
