Nagaland COVID-19 tally surges to 1,823

DIMAPUR, Aug 1 - In the highest single-day spike so far, Nagaland reported 130 COVID-19 positive cases today, taking the State�s tally to 1,823.

�Tested 552 samples for Covid-19, out of which 130 cases came out positive,� Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted. He said among the fresh cases, 109 are from Dimapur and 21 from Kohima.

Phom said contact tracing has been fully activated. Of the 1,823 positive cases, 1,182 are active and 635 patients have already recovered. Five people have died of the infection.

In another development, the Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department has permitted private laboratories and hospitals to conduct COVID-19 tests through TrueNat/CNBAAT subject to obtaining NABL accreditation and approval/registration under the ICMR.
