IMPHAL, May 28 � A six-member Nagaland Congress delegation visited their Manipur counterparts, besides holding talks with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to resolve the ongoing stand-off arising out of the proposed visit of NSCN-IM general secretary Th Muivah to his ancestral village in the State.
The Nagaland team was led by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president I Imkong Imchen and included their Congress Legislature Party leader Tokheho Yepthomi of Aghunato AC under Zunheboto district.
The other members of the delegation included MLAs Joshua Sema of Phughoboto AC, Tarie Zeliang, former MLAs Yanthithang Lotha and Medula Angami.
After failing their second attempt to visit by helicopter,the team Thursday travelled by road from Kohima. They reportedly reached Mao gate Wednesday morning and were escorted by a combined team of State and paramilitary forces from Mao gate to Imphal.
The team soon after reaching Imphal drove straight to Chief Minister�s official bungalow at Babupara in Imphal for a meeting. Though it couldn�t be established what was discussed during the two-hour meeting, it is said the meet discussed the matter relating to the ongoing problems in the State.
Later, they called on their Manipur counterpart at Congress Bhavan. Speaking to media, the visiting NPCC president Imkong said came to Manipur on a goodwill mission. �We�re here to express our concern to the people of both Nagaland and Manipur,� Imkong said. �We also decided that we should work together to defuse the situation through church and civil societies.�
On the other hand, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam sharing his feeling said, �As we have limitations. We are thinking of requesting the Centre jointly to intervene in the ongoing problem in the region.� It may be noted that the Central Government is keeping a close watch on emerging developments.
