KOHIMA, June 20 - Nagaland Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu today emphasised the need on spreading knowledge and impart education of Information Technology to the Naga students.
Speaking during the free distribution ceremony of computer sets to the government colleges the Chief Minister pointed out that Nagaland is ranked No 5 in the IT sector in the country and expressed his happiness to the IT department for achieving this ranking.
The Chief Minister was of the view that the world is changing into digital world and so Naga students should not lag behind others.
Shurhozelie also said that the Naga students would have no problem with the advancement of technology and expressed the hope to see Naga students emerge among the best in the field of Information and Technology in the near future.
He was also optimistic that distributing the computer sets, especially to the government colleges will mark a new beginning in empowering computer education to the government students.
It may be mentioned that the computer sets were funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Out the 100 sets, 50 sets will be distributed to the five accredited government colleges.
The Chief Minister said that his government has taken a number of steps to expand IT education in the State in the greater interest of the students. �In the modern era, IT education is a must for our pupils, so we have chalked out a long-term plan to spread IT education,� he said.
