Nagaland church calls for honest census

By A Correspondent

DIMAPUR, June 3 With the census 2011 now under way, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council has called upon all the Baptist church leaders and members to rise up and use all in their power and authority to exercise their fundamental duty with utmost truth and honesty.

Pointing out that there have been reports of manipulations and illegal practices in the past, a press note by council general secretary Rev Dr Anjo Keikung called on Christians to shun from all such practices. The credibility and authenticity of the census will have long term ramifications to the future of our people which would include the promotion of fair political system, governance, development, etc, it said.

The council, therefore, gave a clarion call to all Christians to seize the opportunity to act conscientiously in such a way as to leave behind a legacy of doing what is right for the sake of posterity and the generations to come by helping establish an accurate and reliable census on the states population in the ongoing Census 2011.
