Nagaland church body appeals for peace

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Dec 17 - Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) on Monday appealed to believers to show ethics of love to neighbours and peace and goodwill towards everyone instead of getting caught up in festivity.

Spirit of Christmas must lead us to look out for one another and shun any form of manipulative spirit born out of self-interest, NBCC general secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho said in his peace and goodwill message.

He also urged the believers to repent past mistakes and evil doings and celebrate the birth of Jesus, which brought hope, love, peace, reconciliation and justice to a broken world instead of celebration and merry-making.

Uphold and commit to things of lasting value, reach out and touch somebody, especially those who were struggling and vulnerable, and make this Christmas memorable for someone this year, he stated.

Keyho referred to recent shooting incident in a two-wheeler showroom and a church extortion case here. He said it was unfortunate and disheartening that church workers continued to be intimidated and threatened till date.

According to him the society could not go on like this. These were all manifestations that the society was sinking from bad to worse, where even the church was not spared from taxation, he stated.
