Nagaland CEO calls for clean electoral roll

DIMAPUR, June 15 - Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kumar held discussions with officials, civil society leaders, ward and village council members and student leaders of Mokokchung and Wokha districts as part of the ongoing National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP) exercise today.

Addressing a meeting at Mokokchung town hall, Kumar said the NERP exercise is to have a clean electoral roll which would eventually lead to clean elections in the country. He said a good breakthrough has been made in the district but much more need to be done to accomplish the cherished goal.

The CEO called upon the officers to ensure that no one should be enrolled twice in the E-roll. He also stressed the need to link EPIC with Aadhaar card. He said proper attention should be given to get rid of all bogus voters from the E-roll. At Wokha, he warned that any ommission and commission by officials dealing with election-related work will result in punishment.
