Nagaland CEO briefs political parties

DIMAPUR, Jan 23 - Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Abhijit Sinha briefed political parties of the State on the rules and directions of Election Commission of India with regard to upcoming State Assembly poll at Kohima on Tuesday.

Stating that the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect immediately after the declaration of the election schedule, the CEO apprised the party representatives about the ECI�s norm which restricts the total expenditure of a candidate to Rs 20 lakh.

There will be 22 Election Observers including an Observer along with video team for each Assembly constituency, he informed while also mentioning about setting up of CCTV cameras at various check posts.

Sinha further informed that there is no bar for a party on expenditure but the same has to be reported to the Election Commission. Additional CEO Moa Aier informed that three flying squads will be deployed in each constituency.

Meanwhile, Wokha District Magistrate Manazir Jeelani Samoon, in an order on Tuesday, has prohibited carrying of licensed arms, sticks, machetes, explosives (like fire crackers), etc., with immediate effect.
