Nagaland cases rise to 2,405

DIMAPUR, Aug 4 - With the single-day highest spike of 276 positive cases today, Nagaland�s COVID-19 tally has reached 2,405. Out of the 2,405 positive cases, 1,740 are active and 657 have already recovered. The official death toll due to the virus is four in the State.

This is the fifth day in a row that the State has recorded over 100 fresh cases.

�276 new +ve cases have been confirmed out of 735 samples tested,� Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom said in his official Twitter handle.

He said among the new cases, 187 are from Dimapur and 89 from Mon. Phom added that necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are under self-isolation.

Meanwhile, Mon Deputy Commissioner Thavaseelan K enforced a total lockdown in the Aboi subdivision for a week from 5 pm today to August 10 to contain the spread of COVID-19.

In an order, Thavaseelan K stated that public and vehicular movement has been strictly prohibited except in medical emergencies. All business and commercial establishments and shops, except pharmacies, will remain closed and no movement will be permitted in or out of the subdivision.

Not more than 20 persons will be permitted to attend funerals, the order added.
