Nagaland cases mount to 8,894

DIMAPUR, Oct 29 - With the detection of a total of 70 COVID-19 positive cases in Nagaland today, the virus tally in the State rose to 8,894.

Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha said that 46 of the new cases were recorded in Dimapur, 19 in Kohima, three in Mon, and one each in Longleng and Zunheboto.

He said out of the total 8,894 positive cases, 7,019 people have already recovered so far. The total active cases stand at 1,758. There have been 29 deaths due to the virus in the State till date.

As per severity of symptoms 1,668 active cases are asymptomatic, 56 are mild, 20 are moderate and on oxygen, four are severe and on oxygen, six are critical and on oxygen, and four are on ventilator support. Sinha said that 3,867 out of the total cases are from the armed forces/police, 1,648 are returnees, 2,946 are traced contacts and 433 are frontline workers.

He added that 61,242 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 60,194 samples have been received. In addition, a total of 33,337 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat and the results of 33,270 samples have been received.
