Nagaland budget session begins today

KOHIMA, March 11 � The budget session of Nagaland Assembly would begin here tomorrow.

The session will begin with the customary address by the Governor while Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who also holds the Finance portfolio will table the budget for 2012-13 in the House on March 15.

The government has already clarified that it will present a full-fledged budget although the State Plan size for next fiscal is yet to be finalised by the Planning Commission.

During the session, the House is likely to witness tabling of certain private members bills, government resolutions and usual departmental reports.

The opposition Congress in Nagaland is likely to corner the State Government for alleged corruption, nepotism and favouritism in various departments and law and order front during the budget session.

Pradesh Congress has been alleging that the NPF Government indulged in large-scale corruption and nepotism while implementing various developmental projects, particularly the Centrally-sponsored schemes and appointments in various departments in the State.

Congress Legislature Pary (CLP) sources said the party legislators would also bring to the notice of the House the failures of law enforcing agencies in curbing crimes, including rampant taxation and extortion by various groups and unions in the State, particularly in commercial town Dimapur. � PTI
